The foundation of the party by Maria Karystianou was mentioned by the spokesperson of the New Democracy, Alexandra Sdoukou, speaking to Skye, stressing that the country needs a serious political proposal and not a recycling of tried and tested antisystemic narratives.
Mrs. Sduku said that “the presentation of the parties is only moving in the constellation of communication and celebrations with doves, Barcelona jerseys” but very soon “we will get to the essence of politics” and “that is where we will all be measured.”
In this regard, for yesterday’s presentation by Ms. Karystianou commented that “it was a general exposition of ideas sprinkled with conspiracy theories, anti-systemicism, far-right discourse, populism” where “she put them in a blender and came up with the party presented yesterday” without any proposal for the future.
He even pointed out that “if this were 2011, we would be listening to what was said yesterday in Syntagma Square with the most extreme of the “indignant”. If we were in 2015, those who fanatically supported Mr Tsipras would be saying it. Today we see this rhetoric returning and that is problematic.”
The press spokeswoman of the New Democracy Party stressed that “the birth happened a long time ago, when PASOK was talking about lost wagons, when SYRIZA was describing all the conspiracies on the right and left to take political advantage of a tragic accident and when they were all together adopting the beating that Velopoulos started, when they were all together signing with Konstantopoulou. When they invested in conspiracy theories, thinking that this would bring down the government. In the end what they thought they were going to instrumentalize created a party and they find it in front of them.”
Mrs. Sdoukou, contrasting government action with opposition rhetoric, stressed that “the government continues to implement its work, it is doing its job. It is renewing the bus fleet, integrating nurses into the heavy and unhealthy, inaugurating museums, as the Prime Minister did yesterday,” concluding that against the new parties and the new wave of demagoguery, the government responds by continuing “the work until the end of our term, not only because this is the mandate we have received from the citizens, but also because it is the best response to populism.”
