With 94.6% of the ballots counted in Cyprus’ parliamentary elections held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Democratic Unionist Party (DISY) maintains its lead and secures 17 seats in the Parliament. AKEL follows with 15 seats, while DIKO and ELAM occupy 8 seats each.
With an 81.9% integration rate, DISY has 27.2% and 82,457 votes, a drop of 0.8%. AKEL – Left – Social Alliance is in second place with 23.7% and 15 seats.
The National Popular Front (ELAM) registers 10.9% and secures 8 seats, while the Democratic Party (DIKO) scores 10% and also receives 8 seats.
Alma – Citizens for Cyprus secures 5.9% and 4 seats, while Immediate Democracy Cyprus scores 5.4% and also takes 4 seats.
A total of 569,182 citizens were registered in the electoral rolls. By 18:00, when the polls closed, 310,904 people had voted, with a turnout of 66.67%, while abstention reached 33.33%, as 155,401 citizens did not turn up at the polls. The number of invalid ballots was 5,207 (1.67%), the number of blank ballots was 1,797 (0.58%) and the number of valid ballots was 303,900, a percentage of 97.75%.
One in three voters chose not to participate in the electoral process, with abstention recorded at 33.6%, while the final turnout for the 2026 parliamentary elections was 66.4%.
After the polls closed and while the counting was underway, exit polls showed DISY in the lead with percentages ranging from 26.2% to 30.2%, maintaining a small but clear lead over AKEL.
According to the General Election Supervisor Elricos Ilias, a total of 378,150 voters participated in the elections of Sunday 24 May 2026 out of 569,182 eligible voters.
Compared to the 2021 general election, turnout was recorded up by 2.5%.
A total of 4,374 people voted in 13 polling stations abroad, out of a total of 6,501 registrations submitted.
At the same time, in the 13 polling stations open for the election of the Maronite Religious Group Representative, 3,175 people voted out of 4,624 registered voters, a 68.7% turnout rate.
