The need for “an immediate increase in social funds, so that the European Commission can support societies”, was raised to the Commissioner for Labour and Social Affairs, Roxana Minzatou, by the MEP of the New Democracy and the EPP, Giorgos Avtias, speaking at the plenary session of the European Parliament.
Mr. Avtias, in his intervention, stressed that “today, society wants a stable income, affordable housing, education, health and to address demographics” and that “all of the above cannot be achieved without funding”. And therefore, “social funds must be increased immediately.”
The parade of Γ. Avtia’s intervention in the European Parliament is as follows:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Colleagues, Commissioner,
I commend your efforts for people in great need across Europe. But we must stand on projects. And social policy is primarily about people. What do people want? What do households want? What does society want? A stable income, it wants affordable housing, it wants demographics, support for demographics, education and health. And how do we do that? Without money it cannot be done. So, my proposal is to increase social funds to pull forward. To be able to look society in the eye.”
