A visit to the Friendship Centre for the Elderly in Haidari was made yesterday by the Deputy Minister of Health, Irene Agapidaki, together with the Mobile Health Teams of the EODY, as part of an action of prevention and free health services to citizens.
According to a relevant announcement, the action was initially held at the Centre for Friendship of the Elderly in Haidari and continued with home visits, where doctors and nurses of the Mobile Health Teams provided free preventive examinations and care services to elderly people and people with mobility difficulties. Among other things, blood sugar and blood pressure measurements, spirometry and cardiograms were carried out.
“Health services must reach every home seamlessly and free of charge, without exclusion, especially to the elderly and people with disabilities,” said Irini Agapidaki, adding that “since the launch of the programme until April 2026, the EODY Mobile Health Teams have examined more than 41.000 citizens across the country, 10,000 have received home health care, more than 6,000,000 citizens have undergone free screenings through “PROLAMVANO”, while more than 200,000 have been diagnosed in time through the national programme. “Citizens should know that they have a free health service available to them, throughout the country, where the doctor comes to their door,” the deputy minister said, stressing that “Mobile Health Teams are now a key pillar of the national strategy for prevention and Primary Health Care.”
