Alexandroupolis has been described as a region of vital importance for the United States of America by US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The US ambassador arrived in the capital of Evros shortly before 12:00 noon and after her visit to the 12th Mechanized Infantry Division said of Alexandroupolis and her visit:
“This has always been a vital and strategic piece for the United States of America. I have been looking forward to this trip with great anticipation not only because it is imperative in terms of US-Greece relations, but also for our NATO allies in the areas of logistics, military and energy cooperation. We look forward to expanding this effort. We’ve had an excellent discussion on these issues here, and I just wanted to come and express my respect, interest and appreciation for all that Greece has done for the United States, and to reaffirm that the United States will always be a steadfast ally of the Hellenic Republic.”
