The Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court recommends that the decision to release Alexandros Yiotopoulos from prison be overturned, considering that this judgment was not correctly based on the current legal framework.

The case is now to be examined by the competent judicial council of the Supreme Court, which will decide whether to accept the prosecution’s proposal. If the council adopts the recommendation, the release decision will be annulled and the convict will return to prison. The hearing is expected to be set within the first ten days of June.

According to information, the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Sophocles Logothetis, after examining the case file, concluded that the legal conditions for granting a conditional dismissal to the polyhisovite, who has been sentenced to 17 life sentences for participation in the terrorist organization 17 November, did not exist.

According to the prosecutor’s assessment, the required actual time of serving the sentence provided for multiple life sentence cases has not been completed. At the same time, it is noted that there is insufficient evidence to establish the substantive conditions for the benefit of the benefit of dismissal for a term of imprisonment.
