One in three voters decided not to go to the polls, after abstention was recorded at 33.6% nationwide. The final turnout for the 2026 parliamentary elections was 66.4%.
According to Election Commissioner General Elricos Ilias, 378,150 voters turned out for Sunday’s election, out of 569,182 eligible voters.
Compared to the previous parliamentary elections in 2021, turnout was up just 2.5 percent.
According to Mr Elias, a total of 4,374 people voted at the 13 overseas polling stations out of a total of 6,501 registrations submitted.

In the 13 polling stations that operated for the election of the Maronite Religious Group Representative, 3,175 people voted, out of a total of 4,624 registered voters or 68.7%.
In Nicosia, the final turnout rate was 67.2%, an increase of 4 percentage points compared to 2021. Turnout in this election in the capital was up compared to the European elections (65.8%), but fell short of the turnout figures for the presidential election (72.8%).
Turnout in Limassol was up just 0.9% compared to the previous parliamentary elections, reaching 61.9%. It was, however, well below the previous presidential (69.3%) and European Parliamentary (65.4%) elections.
Amohostos was the only province to record a 0.8% drop in turnout compared to the previous parliamentary elections, although it recorded the highest turnout rate nationwide, reaching 72.3%. The rate was similar to that of the presidential election (73%), but below that of the European elections (76.4%).
In Larnaca, turnout increased by 3.3% compared to 2021, reaching 67.3%. The figure is well below the turnout recorded in the presidential (72.3%) and European elections (70.3%).
In Paphos, turnout in the elections was at the same level as last year, reaching 71% (2021: 70.3%). Turnout exceeded that of the European elections (69.9%), but not the presidential elections (75.6%).
The biggest increase in turnout compared to 2021 was recorded among overseas voters, who reached 67.3%, up 5.4 percentage points from 2021. The turnout rate is also up compared to the European elections (61.6%), but down compared to the presidential elections (73.5%)
