The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, is travelling to North Evia, along with the Minister of Natural Disaster Rehabilitation and State Relief, Petros Kabouris, for an on-site briefing in Prokopi and Dafnousa, following the earthquakes that occurred in the region today.
As announced by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Mr. Tournas has been in constant communication with the mayor of the area, George Tsapourniotis, from the very first moment and is closely monitoring the situation following the earthquakes that occurred in North Evia.
As stressed by the ministry, according to the picture so far from the checks carried out in the area, wall collapse in a house and limited cracks in some houses have been recorded, as well as small landslides in parts of the road network, while, so far, no injuries or serious damage have been reported.
According to official statements from the Geodynamic Institute, successive earthquakes measuring 4.8, 4.3 and 5.2 on the Richter scale were recorded in the region. At the same time, the services of the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster Rehabilitation and State Relief have been put on heightened alert and are in constant communication with local authorities to assess the situation.
The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, in a relevant briefing, notes that it remains in constant monitoring of the situation and will immediately take any required action if necessary.
Finally, according to Civil Protection sources, two three-member teams of the General Directorate of Natural Disaster Impact Rehabilitation will go to the area tomorrow, with the head, Yannis Pavlis.
