“Based on the data we have so far and especially the historical data and the excitations we had last year and in previous years, the region is very unlikely to produce a major earthquake. Because both the faults are small but also it is released through many earthquakes and not through a single and main earthquake.” This is what Efthymis Lekkas, president of the OASP and professor of Natural Disaster Management at the University of Athens-Macedonian News Agency, said, among other things, regarding the earthquakes that occurred today in the wider area of Prokopios Evia.
As he points out, most likely “we are dealing with a cluster”, which, he explains, “means that we don’t pick out a larger magnitude, very difficult to pick out a larger magnitude and very difficult to go to a very large magnitude however it lasts for quite some time”. Finally, Lekkas says that minor damage is detected in Dafnousa and Prokopi mainly , he adds, in old structures.
