Intubated, but in stable condition, Deputy Prime Minister George Mylonakis is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Evangelismos Hospital, following the stroke he suffered and the successful aneurysm surgery he underwent.
His hospitalization will last at least 10 to 15 days, and then his condition can be more accurately assessed, doctors point out, with the next 24 hours being particularly critical.
“The deputy prime minister remains in the ICU in a stable condition,” the latest medical statement noted, while doctors are closely monitoring his health progress.
Crucial to the course of his health was the aneurysm embolization surgery, which was performed successfully. As the interventional neuroradiologist Eftihis Archontakis told ERTnews, “the aneurysm has been excluded, which significantly strengthens the treatment of possible complications,” stressing, however, that the next few days remain particularly critical.
The serious episode occurred on Wednesday morning, when George Mylonakis suffered a fainting spell during a government meeting at the Maximos Mansion, in the presence of the Prime Minister, and was rushed to the hospital, where immediate surgical intervention was deemed necessary.
From the very first moment Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his close associates were at his side
From the very first moment, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has been at his side, who revisited the “Evangelism” yesterday afternoon, in order to be informed directly by the doctors about the health of his close associate. At the same time, a wave of support is being expressed by the entire political world.
At the same time, ministers, MPs and close associates of Mr. Mylonakis are constantly visiting the hospital to be informed about the development of his health and to express their support to his family. Among them were Stavros Kalafatis, Costas Katsafados, Thanos Plevris, Niki Kerameos and Nikos Dendias.
