The Deputy Minister of State to the Prime Minister George Mylonakis is being treated in the ICU of the Evangelismos Hospital and his condition is considered stable by the attending doctors.
The Deputy Prime Minister fainted yesterday during the morning meeting at Maximou and was evacuated by ambulance to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed a ruptured brain aneurysm and quickly proceeded with an embolisation to stop the bleeding.
What today’s medical statement says
“Deputy Prime Minister to the Prime Minister, Mr. Georgios Mylonakis, continues to be intubated in the ICU and his condition remains stable.”
The next ten days are considered crucial, according to Evtichios Archontakis, an interventional neuroradiologist who operated on George Mylonakis. “Within the first 48 hours it is defined according to protocol that surgery must be performed, so it was done relatively quickly,” Archontakis told ERTnews. “The operation went well, the aneurysm is blocked, so we have a good paper because it helps to deal with the complications that a bleeding can have,” Archontakis said, adding: “From now on, it should be two weeks before I can talk. The bleeding is monitored day by day.”
