The mother of the 3-year-old girl, who is in critical condition in the ICU at Pagni, was arrested for child endangerment.
The little girl was transferred by her mother last Thursday night (21.05.2026) to the hospital of Chania and from there to the ICU of Pagni. Doctors saw that the child had a subdural hematoma and bruises on parts of his body and immediately performed the appropriate medical procedures by a pediatric surgeon, resulting in stabilizing his condition.
In fact, it was deemed necessary for the child to be transferred to the Pagni Children’s Intensive Care Unit, where he has been hospitalized since midnight with his condition reportedly remaining stable but critical.
According to ERT information, the child was taken to the hospital from a playground, while authorities are investigating the circumstances of his injury, namely whether it was an incident of domestic violence or an injury, since it is a family with many members and it is possible that there was an accident. The infant’s father is Pakistani, while his mother is Roma.
The little girl is being treated intubated and in a critical condition in the Children’s ICU of the Pagni, where she was transferred due to the severity of her condition. According to Hospital Administrator George Chalkiadakis, the little girl has brain injuries and a subdural hematoma: “Her condition is serious and is being evaluated by doctors at the Children’s ICU,” he said.
