The progress that Greece has been steadily recording in recent years and the tools available to the government to mitigate the effects of the crisis in the Middle East were mentioned by the Minister of Economy and Finance and President of the Eurogroup, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, speaking at the Semafor World Economy Forum, on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington DC.

As Kyriakos Pierrakakis says in a social media post, “part of our job at the Eurogroup is to coordinate the policies with which we will attempt to deal with the impact of the current energy crisis, which may prove to be bigger than the three previous ones combined.”

In his post Kyriakos Pierrakakis stresses that “Europe has the experience and knows how best to respond to this crisis. Compared to 2022, we have diversified our energy mix and invested more in infrastructure. We need continuous reform to remove all the barriers within the EU,” he stresses.

Referring to our country, Mr. Pierrakakis underlines that “in Greece we have achieved conditions of fiscal and political stability, while we are recording the fastest debt reduction. We have achieved all this by implementing a policy of drastic changes: we are making reforms not every month, but every week,” Kyriakos Pierrakakis concludes in his post.
