In a statement, Katerina Papakosta categorically denies any involvement in the case attributed to her, calling the allegations unfounded and stressing that throughout her political career she has acted with honesty and a sense of responsibility.
As she says, the case concerns her attempt to help a livestock farmer from Trikala to receive a subsidy of about 6,000 euros for 2020, with no result in the end, while she also cites evidence in the case file that, according to her, shows that there were no effects for the following years.
She stresses that her interest did not yield any benefit and expresses confidence in the judiciary, while asking for her immunity to be lifted so she can explain herself.
At the same time, she states that for reasons of political decency, she will not participate in the next elections if the shadow of criminal charges remains against her, calling for the speedy resolution of the case.

“I have no involvement whatsoever in what is unjustly and unjustifiably attributed to me.
Throughout my political career I have proceeded with honesty, ethics, dignity, straightforwardness, respect, interest and responsibility towards my fellow citizens, who honour me with their trust.
The case under investigation concerns a bio-pasteurist and real livestock farmer of Trikala, who was struggling to be given the linked subsidy for the year 2020, amounting to about 6,000 euros, as I was recently informed!! I tried to help him, because he convinced me that he was in danger of survival. However, the opec has never granted him this subsidy.
I read in the file, which concerns me, that a DOCUMENT of the AADE states: from the on-site audit carried out on 3-3-21 for the aid year 2020, it appears that there were no effects for the following years 2021-2024.
It is amply demonstrated that my own political concern for my distressed fellow citizen did not help him, nor did it have any impact for the years 2021-2024!
I have full confidence in the Judiciary and the Prosecutors of our Country, that they are acting in accordance with the Constitution and their conscience.
I request that my immunity be waived.
I will immediately go to the appropriate prosecutor to explain what is being attributed to me. It is a debt to my fellow citizens, to our party, to my family.
This case must be resolved as soon as possible.
For reasons of political decency, I SHOULD NOT VOTE IN THE NEXT ELECTIONS if there is still a shadow of criminal charges against me.”
