Kyriakos Mitsotakis received Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinia at the Maximou Mansion on Thursday morning (23.04.2026).

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed issues of European and regional interest, with an emphasis on developments in Ukraine and the Middle East. At the same time, they exchanged views on the economic consequences of a protracted crisis in the Middle East, the need to strengthen the common European defence and the migration issue.

At the start of the meeting, Mitsotakis referred to the time that has passed since the Latvian leader’s last visit to Greece, while making a more relaxed comment on the weather conditions in the European south and Latvia’s role in “climate change” with recent rainfall.

For her part, Evika Silinia praised the Greek Prime Minister’s role on the European political scene, citing a significant contribution to the cohesion of the European Union, particularly on issues related to Ukraine.

He also referred to the common challenges faced by Greece and Latvia on the issue of migration, noting the cooperation between the two countries and the contribution of their border guards, and thanked for the warm welcome at the Maximou Mansion.
