The President of the Eurogroup and Minister of Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, had a brief meeting with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace today, on the sidelines of his contacts with the Secretary General of the French Presidency, Pierre-André Imbert.

The discussions in Elysée focused on the major challenges facing Europe today, with emphasis on enhancing the competitiveness of the European economy, financing defence, attracting investment, accelerating technological transition, as well as on the prospects for further strengthening Greek-French economic cooperation.

Pierrakakis stressed that Europe needs to move with greater speed, ambition and unity in order to strengthen its economic strength, ensure its strategic autonomy and respond effectively to the challenges of the new era.

While, the meeting with Mr Imbert confirmed the excellent level of the Greek-French strategic relationship and the importance of close cooperation between Greece and France in promoting European priorities.
