The government is taking drastic measures to protect minors online, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis announcing the imposition of an age limit for the use of social media. Specifically, from 1 January 2027, access to social media will be banned for all children under the age of 15.

The Prime Minister chose Good Wednesday to announce this decision via a video on social media, stressing that the legislation will be ready within the summer of 2026. According to Mitsotakis, the move aims to make Greece one of the leading countries internationally in adopting such initiatives, prioritising the safety of young people in the digital world.
