Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Vassilis Kikilias met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Office of the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

In an online post, the Shipping Minister referred to a meeting of “special honour”, underlining the Patriarch’s lasting contribution to Ecumenical Hellenism and Orthodoxy, as well as his firm stance in favour of the values of faith, tradition and unity. As he pointed out, the Ecumenical Patriarch’s interventions and his words are of particular importance in a period of increased international challenges. Kikilias also highlighted Greece’s role as a custodian of historical and spiritual values, noting that the country has been defending the principles that constitute our national identity throughout time.
