In a video message, former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker sent his message.
The European politician referred to the difficult moments of the Greek crisis, the battle for the country to remain in the euro and the role of the Prime Minister in Greece’s new position in the EU.
Junker recalled his long-standing relationship with Greece and the crucial moments of the financial crisis when he fought to keep the country within the eurozone.
“I have always fought to keep Greece within the eurozone. Sometimes I was alone,” he said.
The former Commission President also referred to Constantine Karamanlis, saying he was a “great leader” who “brought the European Union to Greece and Greece to the European Union”
