With reference to the student elections and stressing that through a difficult electoral process, the GDR-NDFK has once again emerged as the leading force in Greek universities, the President of ONNED, Orpheus Georgiou began his speech at the 16th Ordinary Congress of the New Democracy Party. “It was a difficult battle in adverse conditions but by projecting our ideas, by projecting all that the GDR-NDFK has proposed in the academic focus we managed and won and our ideas were vindicated,” he said.

He stressed that “the strength of the Southwest is not measured only in electoral victories or percentages. It is found in the struggles, in the difficult moments and in the successes of a great liberal centre-right party that has stood the test of time because it has mainly relied on its people.”

He stressed that the 16th Ordinary Congress is taking place at a critical juncture full of challenges but also great potential for the future of Greece and the new generation. “If there is one thing we should keep from the country’s journey in recent years with ND in government and Kyriakos Mitsotakis as Prime Minister, it is that the stability that Greece is experiencing today is neither given nor self-evident. It is a daily battle of responsibility. It is the result of seriousness, planning and political consistency.”

He pointed out that: “when the time comes to be judged by the citizens, we are sure that the Greece of 2027 will not choose the one who shouts the loudest but the one who keeps the country standing and moves it forward and the truth is only one. The Southwest has proven that only it can do this and here lies the great responsibility of our generation. Our role as the governing youth is twofold: to communicate the work and vision of the government and to convey to it the needs and anxieties of young people.”

He referred to the National Youth Portal and stressed that ONNED wants to create a fairer and more transparent working environment where a new employee will know in advance basic details about a job such as the salary range and can create a reliable, personalized profile. While at the same time the employer will have free access to tools and cross-referenced information.”
