In response to the incident with the passengers on the Gaza-bound ships, the employees’ association of the Agios Nikolaos Hospital issued a statement, which provoked a strong reaction from the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis.
In a post on Platform X, the minister claimed that “they took the opportunity to call for open borders for all illegal immigrants while denouncing our government for its relations with Israel.” He said that these relations “have upgraded Greece and Cyprus defensively, politically and economically, and have embarrassed Turkey.”
He noted that he was releasing the statement “to make it clear who are those who criticise him daily and talk about the “collapse” of the NHS. He added that, in his view, proposals such as open borders and a repeat of situations similar to 2015 would have serious consequences, including on the health system, concluding that they “should not be taken seriously.”
The post by Adonis Georgiades:
I would like you to read the statement of the employees of the Hospital of Agios Nikolaos on yesterday’s incident with the passengers on the ferry to Gaza: https://anatolh.com/topikanea/agiosnikolaos/o-syllogos-ergazomenon-gnan-sto-pleyro-ton-prosfygon-kai-metanaston/ they took the opportunity to call for: a) open borders for all illegal immigrants and b) of course to denounce our government for its relations with Israel. Relations which have upgraded Greece and Cyprus defensively, politically and economically and have put Turkey in such an embarrassing position.
I am posting this basically so that you can understand who are the people who have been shouting against me all day and talking about the “collapse” of the NHS etc. I don’t need to explain to you I guess that e.g. open borders and millions coming to Greece like in 2015 what exactly would be the impact on e.g. the NHS….no one should take them seriously on anything
