“Leave toxicity out of our political life,” Health Minister Adonis Georgiades said in a post in response to the circulation on the internet of a photograph attempting to be linked to his face.

Mr. Georgiades

“For some hours now, a photo has been circulating on the internet depicting a man and a woman in an intimate moment. Several people were quick to identify the man in the photo with me, trying once again to hurt my public image and personality.

But before we start commenting and reproducing anything, it would be good to learn to distinguish truth from falsehood and above all to respect that behind every human being there are families, children and personal lives. Not everything is subject to public ridicule or political exploitation.

So this photo does not depict me, it is most likely an AI product and the question of how to protect ourselves from lies in the current age is raised.

If someone wants to criticize me there are serious issues and political actions on which they can do so. After all, I am constantly exposed to public criticism through a series of actions and statements.

If some people want so badly to hurt me or belittle me politically, let them do so on my work and actions. Unless there is nothing of substance to say there and so they resort to rumors, false images and personal attacks.

Turning a fake or controversial photo into a so-called “scandal” just because it suits some people’s political convenience shows that they are ultimately not interested in either truth or substance, they are just desperate for something to get caught. And finally I’ll say it again leave toxicity out of our political life.”
