A comprehensive review of bilateral relations between Greece and Bulgaria was held during a meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Bulgaria’s new Prime Minister Rumen Radev in Sofia today.

The meeting also expressed the common will to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, while particular emphasis was placed on the areas of connectivity, energy, transport, defence, management of cross-border water resources, as well as coordination on issues of common European interest.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined the importance of continuing the dialogue with the aim of reaching a long-term and comprehensive agreement on the management of the transboundary waters of the Ardas and Nestos rivers, which will be mutually beneficial for both countries.

The Prime Minister also referred to the importance of regional connectivity in the energy and transport sectors, as well as the need to strengthen defence cooperation, including through the use of European resources.

Other issues on the European agenda were also on the table, with a particular focus on the new Multiannual Financial Framework.
