Michalis Chrysochoidis, the Minister of Citizen Protection, referred to upcoming changes regarding the use of electric skates in the city, speaking to Mega, in response to the increased incidents of accidents.
He said the government is planning legislation that will provide for the creation of special lanes or sidewalks for skates, while stricter restrictions will be placed on their use.
He stressed that a ban on minors using scooters on public roads is being promoted, noting that “they should not go to school on scooters”, as he considers their use to be particularly dangerous.
At the same time, he said that more comprehensive measures are being considered that may even go as far as restricting or banning their circulation, personally expressing the view that “he would like them to be non-existent.”
