Explosive material—possibly a landmine – was spotted by a swimmer in Pieria around 5 p.m. on Saturday, who notified the Thessaloniki Port Authority to handle the matter.

The ammunition, which is in a state of oxidation, was found at a depth of just 1.5 meters and about ten meters from the shore, in the Kallithea-Pieria coastal area. The Thessaloniki Central Port Authority placed markers in the area, while the Naval Hydrographic Service, the Hellenic Navy General Staff (GEN), and other relevant authorities were notified of the incident so that they could take the necessary actions.
