Police officers from the Saronic Police Department arrested a 72-year-old man, the temporary manager of a health-related business, as part of inspections to ensure free public access to the beaches of Attica.

Specifically, as announced by the Hellenic Police, during a raid conducted on the morning of June 12 at Anavyssos Beach, it was found that the 72-year-old had set up tables and chairs and sound equipment, while he had deployed approximately 200 umbrellas and 400 lounge chairs across a large section of the beach.

At the same time, it was found that the shop was operating without the required license, as it had been sealed a few days earlier by the competent authorities.

Charges were filed against the arrested man, as well as the store owner, for illegal occupation of the beach and violation of the business closure order, while the relevant authorities were notified for further action.

The 72-year-old was brought before the competent prosecutor.

As noted by the Hellenic Police, similar actions and inspections are continuing along the entire Attica coastline, with the aim of protecting public spaces and ensuring unimpeded public access to the beaches.
