Authorities have arrested a 64-year-old man on charges of causing a fire through negligence in Euboea.

According to the Fire Department, according to the data, a 64-year-old man caused the fire while performing agricultural work with a threshing machine, resulting in a fire caused by negligence.

The fire that broke out in the Neochori area of Chalkida in Euboea immediately mobilized firefighting forces and was brought under control in its initial stage, followed by an investigation into its causes by the relevant investigative units of the Fire Department.

Following the investigation, the perpetrator was arrested under the flagrante delicto procedure, pursuant to a prosecutor’s order.

It should be noted that, from January 1 through June 11, 2026, a total of 414 administrative fines have been imposed, amounting to 410,631.395 euros, while 82 arrests have been made under the flagrante delicto procedure.

As emphasized by the Fire Department, the DAEE and the investigative services of the Fire Department remain on high operational alert, conducting continuous inspections and taking immediate action to hold parties accountable in cases of violations of applicable laws.
