The arrest of four men aged 61, 53, 23 and 20 years old was made by police officers of the Rethymnon Police Directorate, as part of an operation to tackle cases of drugs, illegal possession of weapons and animal theft.

The searches were carried out in residences, herdsheds and surrounding areas, following the use of relevant information from the police authorities.

During the searches, the following were identified and seized:

  • 1 kilogram and 110 grams of rock cocaine
  • 860 grams of cannabis
  • 5 shotguns
  • 1 pistol with three magazines
  • 1 rifle
  • 2 precision scales
  • €32,800 in cash, which is being examined as coming from illegal activity
  • 4 mobile phones
  • Number of sheep and goat tagging boxes

In addition, four cannabis seedlings were found in a field near one of the houses, which were uprooted and confiscated.

A case was also filed for violations of the law on animal theft, as during the inspection the authorities found an inability to gather and count part of the herd related to the case.

The four arrested are expected to be brought before the competent judicial authorities, while the preliminary investigation continues by the Greek Police services for the full investigation of the case.
