Another incident of assault on a minor girl occurred today (6/6/2026) in Igoumenitsa, causing intense concern in the local community, as this is the second similar case in a few days with the same alleged perpetrator.
The incident unfolded near the city’s square, where – according to reports – the man who had already been arrested for a previous attack on a minor allegedly attacked a girl again.
The minor reacted immediately, screaming, causing the man to flee the scene. Residents who noticed the incident alerted police.
Men of the Igoumenitsa Security Department were mobilized and located the man a short time later at a short distance, proceeding to his arrest. According to the same information, a knife was found on him again.
Recall that he had been previously arrested on June 4, when he was accused of assaulting the sexual dignity of a minor, and had allegedly threatened her father with a knife.
The new arrest, just two days after the previous incident, has raised questions in the local community about how this man ended up out of custody again, despite the seriousness of the charges and police findings.
