“May I remind you in 2019 what the first goal was? To create hundreds of thousands of jobs with unemployment at 18%. And today we have created 600,000 jobs. It was not easy,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed, who said it was an injection of optimism that many young people who left abroad now want to return.
“Our children will not bear the burdens that previous generations have lifted. As a government, we cannot bequeath a large debt to the next generation, it is a national responsibility and a national imperative to reduce it,” the Prime Minister said.
“We said it and we did it. Much of those increases were unfortunately offset by inflation. But we cannot feed people magic solutions that do not exist. Enhanced income, tax cuts are the definitive mound of precision,” he pointed out.
“Elections will be held in 2027 which means we have a lot of work ahead of us. I separate the work of the party from the work of the government. Between now and the end of August we have to complete all the outstanding issues of the recovery fund. You will see the projects being inaugurated and there will be hundreds of them. It is our duty to say not only big yeses but also big noes at times. This party will not give in to the temptation of parochialism beyond the budgetary possibilities which are significant but not endless,” the Prime Minister said.
“All these are important successes, we often forget them. I am listening, what else are you going to give?. What we can but let’s not forget what we have done which is not a small amount. Permanent interventions,” he noted.
