“There are congresses that are simply about the course of a party and congresses that are about the course of the country. Our meeting is about the latter,” Kyriakos Pierrakakis told the New Democracy conference.

The President of the Eurogroup and Minister of National Economy and Finance stressed that “we did not fight the battle just to return Greece to normality” and that “now we are moving to the Greece of ambition”

Pierrakakis said that “today we are building again and this time we are building on solid foundations.”

“We are running in the right direction and we need to run even faster. Great factions are born not to manage but to change a country. Constantine Karamanlis understood this. He then saw the opportunity of a new Greece and started building. He did not just build works of concrete and iron, he rebuilt the country’s confidence. This is our duty too. We are living through one of the greatest technological changes, artificial intelligence is changing economies, societies and power balances. Greece has a chance to become a hub of innovation,” he continued.

“Bringing artificial intelligence everywhere. Use it properly. It is our belief that technology must go along with democracy, along with institutions, along with people. Energy is also a big issue and we want more investment,” he added.

The Minister of National Economy and Finance stressed that development must be everyone’s business. “We do not believe in the old dilemmas. Both the era of statism and the era of absolute self-regulation have passed,” he pointed out.

“In a world of instability, our country is an island of stability,” he added, among other things. “Greece has a courageous foreign policy with clear red lines,” he stressed.

“Growth must reach every corner of the country. It also comes from small infrastructure,” he added and said that “society does not expect us to take care of ourselves, it is not interested in internal party whispers.”

“The big factions do not win when they constantly look in their own mirror but when they look at the horizon of the country. Let us dare again, together, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the helm, to build, to inspire, Greece cannot wait,” he stressed.
