Chancellor Friedrich Murch had a “good phone call” with US President Donald Trump, the former said in a post on the “X” platform. The two leaders discussed the situation regarding Iran and the war in Ukraine.
“I had a good phone call with President Trump on his return from China. We agree: Iran must now come to the negotiating table. It must open the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran must not be allowed to have nuclear weapons,” Friedrich Murch noted, adding that during his phone call with the US President, a peaceful solution for Ukraine was still discussed, while the two leaders coordinated ahead of the upcoming NATO summit to be held in Ankara. “The United States and Germany are strong partners within the framework of a strong NATO,” the chancellor said.
