The 16th Ordinary Congress of New Democracy is being held at the Metropolitan Expo under the slogan “Together for Greece 2030” from today, Friday 15 May to Sunday 17 May.

The President of the Organizing Committee Theodoros Roussopoulos will declare the opening of the Conference’s proceedings, while on 19.25, Prime Minister and President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis will speak at the opening of the Conference.

On Saturday 16 May, at 11.30am, the Prime Minister will participate in a panel discussion on artificial intelligence as part of the conference.

On Sunday 17 May, at 12.05pm, the Prime Minister will speak at the closing session of the Conference.

On Saturday 16 May, speeches will be delivered by the Director General of the New Democracy, Yannis Smyrlis, the President of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, and the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, the General Secretary of the Parliamentary Group Maximos Charakopoulos, the Vice-Presidents of the party Kostis Hatzidakis and Adonis Georgiades and the Rapporteur of the New Democracy in the Constitution Revision Committee Euripides Stylianides.

Representatives of the European Union Member States, representatives of the European People’s Party and the European Parliament, as well as representatives of other parties of the Greek Parliament will address the conference.

In parallel, on the second day of the Conference’s proceedings, the participants will make presentations in eight thematic sections, which are: “Social State for all – New perspectives and opportunities”, “Strong Greece”, “Strong Economy – Strong Greece”, “Greece a destination for all – Major projects & infrastructure”, “Modern State for all”, “Safe Greece”, “With the young people we build the Greece of the future” and “2030: Greece strong, New Democracy ahead”.

On Sunday 17 May, speeches will be delivered by the Secretary of the Political Committee Stelios Kondodakis, the Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the Secretary General of the European People’s Party Dolors Montserrat, the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus and of the Democratic Rally Anita Demetriou and the President of the Organising Committee Theodoros Roussopoulos, while the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and the former President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker will address the audience.

There will be pavilions of foreign institutions that have a long-standing cooperation with the New Democracy (Konrad-Adenauer, Wilfried Martens, Hanns Seidel), a pavilion of the European People’s Party, the Institute for Democracy Constantine Karamanlis (IDK), as well as two pavilions of start-ups in the field of artificial intelligence.
