The Cybercrime Directorate has formed a criminal case against two brothers from Crete, a 23-year-old and a 28-year-old, for online threats and insulting a political person via e-mail.
Specifically, as it was announced by the ELAS, the investigation of the case started after a complaint by the former Minister of Rural Development Kostas Tsiaras, according to which in September 2025 he received an email with threatening and abusive content.
The preliminary investigation material collected was brought to the attention of the competent prosecuting authority, which ordered a preliminary examination.
As stated in the relevant release, “from the subsequent thorough and in-depth police and digital – online investigation, as well as from the correspondence with the managing company, electronic traces and other available data were used, resulting in the discovery of the involvement of the defendants in the above criminal acts, as administrators of the email box”.
The file formed was submitted to the competent prosecuting authority.
