The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michael Chrysochoidis, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Greece, Ju-seong Lim, in the presence of the Chief of the Greek Police, Lieutenant General Demetrios Mallios and the Director of the Directorate of International Police Cooperation of the Greek Police, Brigadier General Christos Tsitsibikos.

Among the issues discussed were the possibilities for the exchange of know-how and good practices between the competent services of the two countries, the use of new technologies and “smart policing” applications, as special emphasis was placed on modern security challenges and in particular on tackling organised and cross-border crime, cybercrime and economic crime.

The importance of training and exchange of operational experience between the police services and educational structures of the two countries was also highlighted, especially in areas such as cybersecurity, digital investigations and modern policing technologies.

According to the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the excellent relations between Greece and the Republic of Korea were confirmed during the meeting, while the common will to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of internal security and international police cooperation was underlined.

Mr. Chrysochoidis referred, among other things, to the operation of the Hellenic Police’s Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (D.A.O.E.), which operates with a modern information-centric approach and substantially enhances the country’s capabilities in the fight against serious forms of organized crime.
