The dominant role played by the Region in terms of the economy of our country’s islands was discussed at a working meeting held on Thursday morning in Rhodes, by Deputy Regional Governor, Ap. Asprakis, the deputy regional governor, Mr. Michalakis and the Executive Secretary of the Region, N. Papastamatiou, with the Counselor of the Embassy of Japan in Greece, Moemi Nakamura.
At the meeting, extensive reference was made to the Region’s strategy for the sustainable transformation of the islands through innovative initiatives and internationally recognized projects.
At the same time, aspects of the South Aegean FODSA’s planning for circular economy projects on small islands were presented, based on the innovative Tilos Just Go Zero project, which is successfully implemented in Tilos.
For her part, Moemi Nakamura expressed particular interest in the issues of energy autonomy of the islands, while the issue of the electrical interconnection of the islands, as a crucial factor for the sustainable development and energy transition of the South Aegean, was also raised in the discussion.
