In a public intervention, Nikos Karanikas strongly criticizes Alexis Tsipras’ “manifesto”, questioning its political depth and orientation.
He argues that the text lacks key elements that traditionally constitute the Left, such as the reference to socialism, the concept of class conflict and criticism of the economically powerful. At the same time, it points out that on international issues, and especially with regard to the Middle East, the approach adopted is selective and incomplete.
All in all, Karanikas concludes that the “manifesto” looks more like an attempt to renew the image of the political body than a comprehensive and substantial political proposal.
