The Alstom Centre of Excellence in Savigliano, Italy, where Hellenic Train’s 23 new Coradia Stream electric trains are being built, was visited by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis, and the company’s CEO, Roberto Rinaudo.
As stated in a joint statement by the Ministry of Transport and Hellenic Train, the visit is part of the monitoring of the progress of the €308 million investment. The visit is part of the progress of the EUR 308 million fleet renewal, which includes 12 trains for the Athens – Thessaloniki axis and 11 for the suburban lines. The process is being implemented as planned.
During the visit, the production lines and technological infrastructure of the factory, one of Alstom’s key centres in Europe and a hub for the Coradia Stream platform, with Factory 4.0 features, were presented.
The new trains are designed according to modern European standards, incorporating advanced technological systems that enhance operational reliability and passenger experience. At the same time, they emphasise comfort and accessibility, with a modern interior layout and functional spaces for travel needs.
At the same time, they are utilising solutions that improve energy efficiency and reduce their environmental footprint, contributing to the transition to more sustainable rail transport.
