U.S. acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said he believes the man arrested for the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was targeting Trump administration officials.
“It appears that he was actually targeting individuals who work in the administration, possibly the president,” Blanche said on NBC News’ Meet the Press, adding that the suspect apparently traveled by train from Los Angeles to Chicago and then to Washington, D.C.
Charges will be filed in federal court tomorrow against him for assaulting a federal agent and using a firearm with intent to kill a federal agent, he said.
The suspect is not cooperating with investigators, Blanche said.
The acting attorney general also said he believes King Charles will be safe for his visit to the U.S. starting tomorrow.
