“Political violence has no place in a democracy,” European Union diplomacy chief Kaya Kalas said today after members of the security forces removed Donald Trump from a reception in Washington after a shooting.
Through X, the European official also said she was “relieved” that all the people who attended this reception hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association, including the US President, were safe.
“An event that was meant to honor the free press should never be turned into a scene of terror,” added Kaya Kalas. The attacker was arrested before he could enter the room where the correspondents’ dinner was being served.
Relieved that everyone who attended, including President Trump, are safe after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
