U.S. President Donald Trump said today that the cancellation of his envoys’ trip to Pakistan does not mean a resumption of the war against Iran, U.S. news website Axios reported.

“I don’t see the point of making them take an 18-hour flight in the current situation (of negotiations). It’s too far away. We can manage just as well by phone,” the US president told an Axios reporter, who said he spoke to him by phone.

When asked if that meant he would restart the war, Trump replied, “No. No, it doesn’t mean that. We haven’t thought about it yet,” according to the same source.

“I told my staff a little while ago as they were getting ready to leave: ‘No, you’re not taking an 18-hour flight to get there,'” Trump told a reporter for the Fox News network.

US President Trump also said Iranians can call him “anytime they want” after Jared Kushner and Steve Whitcoff’s planned trip to Islamabad was cancelled.

“The Iranians can call us if they want, whenever they want,” he said in phone conversations with Axios and Fox News.
