The message from U.S. Ambassador to Athens Kimberly Guilfoyle regarding Greece’s new partnership with the Florida National Guard was reproduced on social media by homegrown Republican state Rep. Jimmy Patronis, highlighting the agreement that puts the country in the U.S. National Guard’s State Partnership Program (SPP).

In a video posted on Platform X, Kimberly Guilfoyle described the agreement as a step in upgrading bilateral relations, stressing that “when President Donald Trump asked me to serve as US Ambassador to Greece, it was a great honor for me.” At the same time, he described Greece as a “valuable partner” that “shares our determination to fully defend a bold vision for the future and to promote peace through strength.”

Then the U.S. Ambassador emphasized that “today, we are taking our cooperation to a historic new level,” adding that she is honored, along with Defense Secretary Nikos Dendias, to officially announce that Greece will be working with Florida as part of the U.S. National Guard program.

Subsequently, Jimmy Patronis, echoing Kimberly Guilfoyle’s statement, welcomed the agreement, noting that “U.S.-Greece cooperation is entering a new chapter.” He said the connection between Greece and Florida through the National Guard State Partnership Program enhances operational readiness and deepens the two sides’ shared commitment to freedom and democracy.

Greece’s partnership with the Florida State National Guard was also the focus of a meeting between Greece and Kimberly Guilfoyle on Good Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Department of National Defense. The discussion was part of the broader framework of strengthening the strategic relationship between Athens and Washington, with an emphasis on defense cooperation.

The National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program links US states with partner countries and provides for cooperation in areas such as military training, operational readiness, crisis management and interoperability of forces.
