The decision to include beneficiaries in the 74 Digital Empowerment Hubs for Persons with Disabilities marks the next step in implementing an initiative that brings digital knowledge closer to people with disabilities across the country.

The programme gives people with disabilities the opportunity to acquire skills that are absolutely necessary for modern everyday life: from safe internet navigation and the use of digital communication tools to accessing gov.gr services and making electronic transactions, such as e-banking. In this way, digital knowledge becomes a tool for equality, autonomy and meaningful participation.

Digital knowledge becomes a tool for equality, autonomy and meaningful participation.

By decision of the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michaelidou, applications for participation are approved and the first beneficiaries of the Pilot Programme for Digital Empowerment of Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities are included in the Digital Empowerment Nodes for Persons with Disabilities.

Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Domna Michaelidou said: “74 Digital Empowerment Hubs bring digital knowledge closer to people with disabilities. For us, accessibility is not an abstract concept. It is a right to knowledge, to autonomy, to everyday participation. With this programme we are creating an organised support network of 2,740 places, so that no one is left behind in an era when digital knowledge is a basic condition for equal participation in social and economic life.”

Beneficiaries who join the programme will be trained and empowered in the Digital Empowerment Nodes for Persons with Disabilities and are ranked by Node based on the chronological order of priority of their application and the order of priority of the registered Nodes. The network of 74 Nodes covers the entire country geographically, bringing digital education and empowerment closer to the citizen and ensuring that digital empowerment is not a privilege for a few, but an opportunity for all.

The programme is implemented by the General Secretariat for Social Solidarity and Poverty Alleviation in cooperation with EDYTE S.A. and IN.ESAMEA.

Those interested can be informed about the outcome of their application through the official website of the Ministry, using the Application Submission Code Number (KAYAS) and the application submission platform (https://empower.gov.gr).
