“I am being audited for an offense that was not committed. I have confidence in the Greek justice system,” said in a post the MP for Serres, Tasos Hadjivassiliou.

“Last year, I resigned from the government for reasons of political decency, as in the first file on OPEKEPE there was a report of a telephone communication of mine, which, as a result, had no criminal interest. Today, the same case is being reopened without any new evidence.

I remind you that this particular 2021 communication is not related to the subject of the financial fraud and illegal subsidies being investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

As a Member of Parliament of Serres, a predominantly rural region, I wanted to seek legal possibilities for the transfer of rights between farmers’ spouses, for reasons of force majeure (pregnancy of the wife), based on the relevant national provisions.

I would like to clarify that the parties concerned have legally submitted the request, as they were entitled to do. Finally, this request for transfer between the spouses was REJECTED by the services.

This is the reality and is not open to question.

I request that my immunity be waived in order to close this case. The case file contains unfounded speculation, which I will address in the appropriate manner. I have confidence in the Greek justice system.

Honesty is a non-negotiable value for me,” Mr Hadjivassiliou concluded in his post.

The statement in his post concludes with the words of Mr. Hatzakisakisakis, who has been quoted as saying that he is a member of the Greek Parliament.
