The 11 members of the New Democracy Party, involved in one of the cases of the OPEKEPE case, are asking for their immunity to be lifted, pleading not guilty.
Nine out of 11 MPs gave explanations to the House Ethics Committee, submitting a memorandum, according to the SKAI report, while former ministers Costas Tsiaras and Notis Mitarakis were present.
Note that the European Public Prosecutor’s Office has asked the Greek Parliament for permission to prosecute
-for the acts punishable as felonies:
1, 98 and 390 para. 2, 24 par. 4 and 26 para. 1 and 3 of Law 4689/2020) against the sitting MPs Ekaterini Papakosta of Demetrios and Konstantinos Karamanlis of Achilles,
2) instigating a computer fraud (Articles 26(a), 27, 46 par. 1 and 386A para. 1 and 3 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Art. 26 par. 1 and 3 of Law 4689/2020), against Ekaterini Papakosta of Demetrios and
3) of instigating a false statement (Art. 26(a), 27, 46 par. 1 and 252 par. 1, 3 and 5 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Art. 26 par. 3 of Law 4689/2020) against Ekaterini Papakosta of Demetrios,
-as well as for the misdemeanor offences:
