The plenary session of the House of Representatives went off the rails when SYRIZA MP Pavlos Polakis and the new Deputy Minister of Rural Development Makarios Lazaridis exchanged strong language over the OPEKEPE case.
Pavlos Polakis, taking the floor, attacked the deputy minister, questioning the authenticity of his degree and shouting: “Shut up Lazaridis… now I’m talking…”. At the same time, he spoke of “deep state” and “rot”, referring to the OPEKEPE case.
Seeing the new Deputy Minister of Rural Development asking for the floor to respond, the SYRIZA MP went on to say: “Since you are raising your hand Lazaridis, I would like you to answer. Where is your degree from, Southeastern College what is it and what degrees does it give?”

In response, Makarios Lazaridis turned up the heat even more, saying: “Deep state and rottenness is what you are. You have publicly admitted that as mayor you had double books, a book on blacks. Explain to us where these blacks are from. And what did you do with them?”
Then the deputy minister of rural development also addressed the spikes in his degree, noting: “This crap you mentioned: I’m a graduate of the liberal studies workshop, the College of Southeastern Europe. My degree is there, I can show you. That’s the end of the joke. Show us your books, where’s the money?”
The confrontation continued in an explosive atmosphere, with Paul Polakis coming back saying: “I challenged Mr Lazaridis to tell us where his degree is from, he won’t tell me. I told him who the deep state is and he says that I am the deep state with the black funds. You should go for a walk in Sfakia, Lazaridis, and see what I did.”
For his part, Makarios Lazaridis replied, “You tell us.”
And the confrontation continued:
