ND’s Magnesia MP Christos Boukoros made the following statement on the OPEKEPE case:

“In order not to create false impressions by the publication of selective and fragmentary oral conversations and having taken note of the file this morning, I declare the following:

My communication with the then (2021) President of OPEKEPE was related to the ethical, fair and proven by previous and subsequent audits, legitimate request of a young couple, who suddenly and unjustifiably in 2021 and without any prior notification found themselves out of payments and thus facing a survival issue.

This couple was legally paid in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and continues to be paid legally and uninterruptedly to this day for exactly the same number of animals and while they have been audited many times with absolutely no negative findings in all of the audits.

I deeply believe that it is at the core of an MP’s duties to convey fair and reasonable requests from citizens to the central administration to address bureaucratic problems.

I will continue to stand by the producers who are forced to survive under very difficult conditions and especially the young farmers and stockbreeders who are now few and far between in the Greek countryside. This is my duty to the citizens and to my country.

With my conscience clear and my head held high, I continue my efforts for our country and our fellow citizens.

YW: There are other excerpts of the conversation that for unexplained reasons are not made public and document the legitimacy of my intentions. OBSERVED.”
