Alexis Tsipras has been strongly criticised by his former close associate Nikos Karanikas.

A day after the former prime minister’s interview, Karanakas, in a statement to SKAI, said Tsipras had unravelled too much by giving answers.

“I listened to it today and I thought it was a very good interview. It contributed more than his book because it is more massive. He unpacked a great deal, he answered questions, he gave a picture of roughly what he wants to do tomorrow.”

.
Nikos Karanikas reiterated his positive stance towards the SYRIZA-ANEL government, saying he agreed with much of what Alexis Tsipras said.

“He didn’t lie, whether he hid something or not is another discussion. We may not hide, we may forget or we may on purpose want to say some things for another time. The truth is that he blurted out some things either about the referendum or about the banks.”

Karanikas: I charge Tsipras with a coup that happened to SYRIZA

Asked if the new party concerns him, Karanikas replied, “I think we can say anything, people judge them, but I think what I consider more serious is the credibility of everyone.

I charge Tsipras with a coup that was carried out in SYRIZA to overthrow Kasselakis and I find it unacceptable. Beyond that I always put in my mind whether the person who speaks is credible.

I consider the Syriza package as a whole a shack party that insist and maintain what they caused with the coup.

Tsipras left the party he left his seat and created an impression that he is not involved in what is going on. Yet he did not make any self-criticism or differentiate himself from the coup. I want to tell you that I consider democracy to be a very important thing. The party does not concern me. Nor is this left not my concern. Tsipras said that he wants to mix the currents that exist, but if we watch closely he is talking about a Marxist-type Left which is a bit more person-centred.”

Karanikas said among other things: “Tsipras is making a party of his own, for personal reasons, he was not invited by a movement, there is no popular movement. He obviously wants to answer all the problems that were created and he did not answer them then. He wants to take revenge against the left that undermined him and did not support him.”

Asked if he can beat Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Nikos Karanikas said: “Do you honestly want? But I’m afraid they’ll say I’m with Mitsotakis. No, he can’t because anyway, whoever governs is always two clicks above the one who is created”

But I’m afraid I’m afraid that I’m going to say that I’m against him, because I’m afraid that I’m against him.
