Five of the eight alleged cases of hantavirus linked to the cruise ship MV Hondius have been confirmed, the World Health Organization announced today.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adanom Gebrejesus told a press conference that the health risk to the general public from this outbreak of the hantavirus outbreak remains low, adding that the Organization has been made aware of reports of other patients and there may be more cases due to the long incubation period of the virus.
