A substantial “bridge of solidarity” was built between the Social Grocery of the Municipality of Meteora and the Archdiocese of Athens, on the occasion of the delivery of six tons of long-life food to support the social structures of the region.

This important offer was implemented through the charitable organization Apostion, following the initiative of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, by supporting the Social Grocery and the Social Pharmacy “Agios Paisios”, which support more than 350 families on a monthly basis.

The reception was attended by Metropolitan Theoklitos of Stagi and Meteora, the mayor of Meteora Lefteris Avramopoulos and the president of the Municipal Council Athanasios Roustanis, who also coordinated the action.

The initiative, according to the Municipality of Meteora, marks the beginning of a closer and ongoing cooperation between the municipality, the church and charitable organizations, with the common goal of supporting vulnerable social groups and strengthening the social protection network in the region.

The Mayor of Meteora, Mr. Lefteris Avramopoulos, speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, stresses:

“Together with His Eminence Metropolitan Theoklitos of Stagi and Meteora, we express our warmest thanks to His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Ieronymos, as well as to the General Director of the Charitable Organization “Apostoli”, Mr. Konstantinos Dimtsas, for this important offer.

This practical support substantially strengthens the work that we are doing together, the Municipality of Meteora and the Holy Metropolis of Stagi and Meteora through the Social Grocery, making a continuous and coordinated effort to relieve vulnerable families in our region.

With cooperation, unity and social sensitivity, we continue to stand by our fellow citizens in need, strengthening the network of social protection and solidarity.”
